For all of her life, Karen wanted to join a choir. It was when she was introduced to handbells in 1985 that she did finally join. (Handbells do not require a "trained voice.") In addition to BOC, Karen also rings in the First United Methodist handbell choir in Portland. Karen recently retired from teaching computer applications at Portland Community College, but has returned part time. She and her husband, Paul, enjoy long weekends and summers at the "Jolly Ranch" among the pine trees in eastern Oregon. They have two adult children.
